Challenge

How might we  design a platform that can assist Promotoras in extending resources to LatinX families?

Their Vision:

To create a trusted digital platform for LatinX patients, families, and their care team to work together to mitigate the effects of Social and Emotional Determinants of Health (SEDOH) to their health and wellbeing.


 

The Problem

After hearing the interview with Parent Navigator, Lorena Eaton, the problem we were able to identify was barriers to effective communication and resource sharing between CHLA promotoras and the LatinX community.

What are Promotoras / Parent Navigators?

A promotora is a LatinX community member who receives specialized training to provide basic health education in the community without being a professional health care worker.

Pain Points

  • Hard to navigate the system of care

  • No immediate resources available to families

  • Language barriers

  • Physical resources can easily be lost

  • Outdated patient information

  • Applications are long and confusing
